"KAUAI SHORE," 10124, daily painter original landscape © Carol Nelson Fine Art

I have vacationed in the Hawaiian Islands on several occasions. I love all the islands, but Kauai is one of our favorites. The northwest part of Kauai is the Napali coast which is so rugged, the road doesn't even to all around the island. This area is a favorite of Hollywood and there have been several movies located there.

This 6x6 original oil on panel is available for $85 including shipping in the US/Canada. Please click here to go to my website where there is a Paypal button.

Great Beach Day, 9034, family at the beach

This painting is for the blog, Different Strokes From Different Folks, where host Karin Jurick posts a photo for all artists to interpret as they please. What this little 5x7 painting taught me is that I need better tiny brushes. That's a lot of detail in those 1 inch people!

Once again, I am challenged to paint a photo that is very unlike my normal subjects - no scenes like that here in Colorado. LOL Every painting teaches me something, and I was surprised that I could even paint that small. I was especially interested in the foreground reflections - I think they add life and sparkle to the painting. I also moved the father to the left to help the composition in this 5x7 format.

Sunset Beach, 08808

Perhaps it's the fact that it's snowing and 8 degrees outside that makes me paint these beach paintings. I think this painting captures that irresistable scene of the sun dipping low into the sea. I wouldn't mind standing on that beach right now. This original oil painting is on 12x12 inch gallery wrap canvas.

Surf, 08708

You KNOW I didn't look out my window for this view since I live over 1000 miles from the nearest coast. This painting was so fun for me to do because most of my landscapes are just that - LANDscapes full of mountains. I tried to capture the power and beauty of a single wave. I can almost hear the roar.

My daughter and her husband live in Cronulla, NSW, Australia. They sent me some lovely photos of the ocean taken on a morning stroll near their home.
