"KAUAI SHORE," 10124, daily painter original landscape © Carol Nelson Fine Art

I have vacationed in the Hawaiian Islands on several occasions. I love all the islands, but Kauai is one of our favorites. The northwest part of Kauai is the Napali coast which is so rugged, the road doesn't even to all around the island. This area is a favorite of Hollywood and there have been several movies located there.

This 6x6 original oil on panel is available for $85 including shipping in the US/Canada. Please click here to go to my website where there is a Paypal button.

Studio Sale - save on this original painting "SUNSET BEACH"

Sunset on the beach. What could be more peaceful and romantic? My daughter's wedding was on the beach, at sunset, in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. It was just a perfect scene.

This 12x12 original oil on canvas is available with a black canvas floater frame for $200, including shipping. The painting without the frame is $150. Please email me for additional purchase information at carolnelsonfineart@comcast.net.

Great Beach Day, 9034, family at the beach

This painting is for the blog, Different Strokes From Different Folks, where host Karin Jurick posts a photo for all artists to interpret as they please. What this little 5x7 painting taught me is that I need better tiny brushes. That's a lot of detail in those 1 inch people!

Once again, I am challenged to paint a photo that is very unlike my normal subjects - no scenes like that here in Colorado. LOL Every painting teaches me something, and I was surprised that I could even paint that small. I was especially interested in the foreground reflections - I think they add life and sparkle to the painting. I also moved the father to the left to help the composition in this 5x7 format.

Sunset Beach, 08808

Perhaps it's the fact that it's snowing and 8 degrees outside that makes me paint these beach paintings. I think this painting captures that irresistable scene of the sun dipping low into the sea. I wouldn't mind standing on that beach right now. This original oil painting is on 12x12 inch gallery wrap canvas.

Surf 'n Sand, unmounted

OK, I'm continuing with the surf and sand theme. I've completed six. They are various sizes with the largest two being 4x12. I'm going to mount them on sand colored board (not white as in the previous photo), and then mount that on black. I've got the boards cut, but I'm using a flat, black spray paint for the black board, and it's too cold (18 degrees and snowing) for me to spray right now.
It should be interesting to see how these turn out. The colors I used are yellow ochre, burnt umber, turquoise green, ultramarine blue, anthaquinone blue, and a tiny touch of cadmium red, all Liquitex or Golden brands. The white is the canvas showing through where I drizzled some polymer medium on before I painted.

Surf 1, 4x12 acrylic abstract of surf and sand

This might be the first of a series. My intent is to suggest the edge of the ocean as it laps against the beach, not a literal interpretation. Materials used are fine pumice gel. fluid polymer medium, and professional artist grade acrylic paint on gatorfoam.
I prefer it in a vertical position, but it posts better horizonatlly.
