"THE FOUR PEPS" 11006 daily painter still life peppers © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"THE FOUR PEPS"

This is a demo I did for my acrylics class on Monday.  I think you can guess what color the under painting is.

Normally, I would probably paint a still life in oil.  I need the extra working time that oils have.  Since this is an acrylics class, I didn't think I should use oils.  LOL

I know you can use "retarders" to slow down the dry time for acrylics, but I have never tried them.  If something needs that much working time, I'll just use oils.

Stoplight Peppers 2, 5x7 oil

If you've been checking out my blog for a while, you may remember this painting. Actually, it's another version of the painting. Last Saturday I had to do demo "small paintings" at the gallery in Golden, Spirits in the Wind. I wanted to work on something where I had already worked out any problems, so as not to embarrass myself. (Is that cheating?) SOLD

Stoplight Peppers, 12x12 oil

You're pushing your cart through the produce section and there they are: a colorful blaze of satin-skinned beauties. There's probably not an artist in the world who hasn't been tempted in the produce section by these colorful peppers. Here's my version. I painted them, then I ate them. Win-win. 12x12 gallery wrap canvas.
