This is the latest in my tree series of acrylic mixed media collages.  This one was a demo for my recent workshop at The Artists Showplace in Dallas, TX.

"Twilight Dance" 36x24

This is a tree landscape in which I experimented with pouring and dripping on the canvas to simulate distant tree branches.  These drips were partially covered up when I painted in the foreground trees.  I like the abstracted effect of the loose, drippy background.

As with all my tree paintings, I paid attention to the value contrasts of light-on-dark and dark-on-light.

I painted this while we were spending a week at our condo in Breckenridge.  The couple that went with us loved it, and bought it on the spot.  Would that all sales came that easily.

This is another in my  series of tree collages.  What doesn't show in this photo image is the sparkle of the pearl mica flake - it just looks dirty yellow in the photo.

"Winter Wardrobe"

I just realized that I never posted this demo painting from my recent workshop at Art of the Carolinas.  It's another from my tree series.  I never tire of the seemingly endless opportunities to use color in this format.

It's painted on a cradled wood panel - I think that has to be my favorite surface.  I like the firm feel under the brush.

Wonders 2

This is the second demo piece I did at a recent workshop in which we were working on mixed media tree paintings.  In my forest, trees can be any color they want to be.

Edge of Red, 24x56 inch diptych

I know I just posted this a few days ago, but in this view, the two canvases are reversed, with the 24x36 on the left, and the 24x20 on the right.  I think I like it better this way.
