"Spring Eternal" 12076, acrylic floral triptych © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Spring Eternal

This is a redo of a painting I did a few years ago.  Here is the original version:

and here is the redo:

The biggest difference, of course, is thebackground going from black to butterscotch.  There are other added notes of
yellow-green and turquoise.

As you can see, it is painted on three 5x7 gallery wrap canvases.  I've shown them right next to each other, but you could also emphasize the triptych abspect by leaving a small space between them.

"TULIP FIESTA" 12051, acrylic tulip flower contemporary painting © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Tulip Fiesta

This painting is on hold until mid June when I will find out if it has been juried into the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition later this year.  I haven't entered this prestigeous show for several years because one of the requirements is that the painting be on paper.  That means glass, matting and framing too.  Much more of a hassle than painting on canvas.

A painting of a bunch of tulips can be pretty ordinary until you cut it up and place the pieces on a contrasting background.  Now it's exciting! No more boring flower paintings!

If you have a boring painting of flowers (who doesn't), try cutting it up and putting the pieces on a background with dramatic value difference.

Tulip Party, 10139, daily painting textured floral © Carol Nelson Fine Art

This is a heavily textured floral painting on water color paper, using flexible modeling paste to sculpt the flowers.  Even though it is heavily textured, it has a water color "feel" to it. I used it as a demo for my Creating With Acrylics class to show them how versatile acrylic paints can be.

The image is 8x8 inches, but when the mat is included, the final dimensions are 12x12.

Spring Eternal, tulip triptych

Spring is in the air and the tulips are putting on their annual dazzling display. The colors seem so brilliant, or is it just because after a long winter we are not used to seeing anything so colorful? This painting is on three gallery wrap canvases with the sides painted.

SPRING ETERNAL II, 03708, 24x48 red tulip painting

I TOLD you I love painting this red/purple combination. LOL. Actually, I've had enough of it for now. I enjoyed painting that little version of this bouquet so much (see earlier post from April 20th), that I decided to try it on a grand scale.

SPRING ETERNAL, 03508, acylic triptych of red tulips

Tulips are blooming in my neighborhood, so I was inspired to paint this bouquet again. I am so attracted to the red/purple combination.

This painting is on three 5x7 gallery wrap canvases, another example of using multiple canvases for one painting. If you click on the image to enlarge it, you'll see that I left white canvas showing in some areas on the edges of the flowers. Sometimes I used white paint. These little touches of white add sparkle to the painting. Every now and then, when I complete a painting, I KNOW I NAILED IT. If I never sell this painting I'll be happy to keep it.

I've painted this bouquet many times. I never seem to tire of the red/purple combination. To purchase with Paypal, please see http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/
