"LIFE IS GOOD" daily painter hereford cows © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"LIFE IS GOOD" 16X20 oil on canvas
It all comes down to BEEF.  Here's another painting to commemorate the National Western Stock Show.  Yes, there's lots of events and lots of animals to be seen, but the prize that most tugs at the heart, is for the Grand Champion in the Junior Livestock competition.

4H youngsters raise their animals from birth to show ring.  The sale price of the Grand Champion steer is often over $100,000.  In the sad reality of what this is all about, the winning bidder is often a high priced RESTAURANT - there's lots of publicity in buying the Grand Champion.

You do see tears shed in this ritual.  Kids grow up knowing that the calf they've raised and pampered and nurtured will eventually meet the fate of all beef cattle.

Maybe that little guy in the painting will grow up to be Grand Champion.  For now, life is good for him and his mom.  For purchase information, please contact  me  at carolnelsonfineart@comcast.net.  This original painting is available as well as giclee reproductions.

Mrs. Brown and Daughter 2, 08508, hereford cow and calf - private commission

This is a repeat of a painting I did earlier of this Hereford cow and her calf. I think the tranquility and contentment of the scene is what appeals to many.

SOLD

Mrs. Brown and Daughter, oil portrait of hereford cows

This is a commission painting of a work I did last year called Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter. I just painted it again making few changes in the composition.
I'm sorry for the infrequent posts lately, but my daughter, Lauren, and her husband, Drouin, are visiting Denver (from Australia) for 2 weeks and I don't have time to spend at the easle. We are having fun. Today I beat her 6-3, 6-4 in tennis. (Of course she hasn't played in years and I play 3x a week.)

SOLD

Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter, 8x10 oil

OK, I couldn't resist the title. It's the old Herman's Hermits song of the 60's. I like how this cow painting turned out. That calf looks so sweet. To purchase this painting, please see http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/, click on "works," then "small paintings."

Life is Good, 16x20 original oil painting of hereford cows

I was going to call this painting "Mrs. Brown, You Have a Lovely Daughter." My husband nixed that idea because the song (sung by Herman's Hermits) is 40 years old, and most people won't know about it or remember it unless they listen to "oldies" radio.

Let me know if you like (and are old enough to remember) the Mrs. Brown title. For purchase information, please see my website, www.carolnelsonfineart.com
