Abner, 9044, original oil cat portrait

What I loved about this cat picture was the way the strong light caught the side of his face. I always love to paint cats because of their beautiful eyes. For purchase information, please click h ere to see my website. SOLD

Blue Eyes, 9037, blue-eyed cat closeup

I love blue-eyed cats. Too bad I'm allergic to them or I would have a himalayan I think. Also I have 3 shih tzus, two of whom HATE cats. It would be chaos to add a cat to the mix.
For purchase information on this painting, please see my website.

SNUG, 5x7 oil painting of a resting cat

I wanted to paint this picture of a cat in his bed for a long time, but hesitated because of the peculiar angle the feet were in. Cats are good at adopting peculiar poses. I think it turned out good. To purchase for $100, please see my website: http://data.fineartstudioonline.com/dataviewer.asp?keyvalue=3851&subkeyvalue=179387&page=WorksDetail

Simba & Peekey

This is a commissioned oil portrait and is sold. The collector has previously purchased several cat paintings from me, so I was very pleased to paint her own cats. These cats are brothers, and are obviously very close. The owner and her cats live in Germany, so I have not seen them in person, only pictures emailed over the internet.

Cat Nap, 5x7 oil, $100

I like this painting because at first glance, it looks like an abstract. Then, suddenly, you see the cat.

Snowball, 5x7 oil, white cat, $100

This very pretty cat looks just like my neighbor's cat, Snowball. Snowball was not allowed outside, but he spent hours on the window sill keeping an eye on things. To purchase with Paypal, please see http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/, click on "works,", then "small paintings."

Old Blue Eyes, 6x6 oil Siamese cat

I had a great deal of difficulty with this cat painting. Of course, the eyes are the focal point, and usually the eyes are my favorite part to paint, but on this cat I had so much trouble with the color, shape and expression. Cobalt blue, ultramarine, and prussian blue were all wrong. Cerulean blue was the one. Maybe I should call it Old Cerulean Eyes. ha To purchase this painting, please see http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/, click on "works", then "small paintings".

Callie, 8x8 oil calico cat

Calico cats have very pretty coloration. I don't really know much about the genetics involved, but I do know that all calico cats are female. This painting is on an 8x8 gallery wrap (no frame necessary) canvas. For purchase information please see my website, http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/, click on "works", then "animals." SOLD

Life of Leisure 5, 6x6 original acrylic painting of a cat, $100

I really like the way this close up portrait turned out. This cat has such a sweet look. I took a lot of time trying to make the fur look realistic. To purchase with Paypal, please see my website, http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/ SOLD

Life of Leisure 4, 10x10 original acrylic painting of a cat, $100

I tend to work in series, and, I must say, this cat series is really fun. I love the peaceful (or is it bored) look of this cat taking a sunbath. To purchase with Paypal, please see my website at http://www.carolnelsonfineart.com/ SOLD
My local newspaper, The Denver Post, sponsors a haiku contest every week with different subject matter each time. When the subject was cats, this was the winning haiku (poem with 3 lines with a 5-7-5 syllable beat):
Tom went out one night
Forgetting the shelter spay
He could just consult
Kudos to Jim Vetting, Greeley, CO

Life of Leisure 3, 10x10 acrylic, $100

This is the last cat for a while. I have a big show coming up this weekend. The weatherman says it's going to be in the high 80's. It will probably get to 90 in my tent. I think I'm going to die. Back in February when I applied to this juried show, it seemed like a good idea... SOLD

Life of Leisure 2, 10x10 acrylic, $100

Nothing looks as relaxed when asleep as a cat. It's almost like they have no bones in their bodies. SOLD

Life of Leisure 1, 10x10 acrylic, $100

I'm going to do a series on cats. I've done cats before, and what I love about painting cats is their eyes. What beautiful eyes they have! My dogs have beautiful eyes also, but there's only so much you can do with brown. :-) SOLD
