Mixed Media Organic Abstract, "First to Fall" © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"First to Fall" 8x8 mixed media by Carol Nelson

This painting was a demo for students studying in my studio recently. It is a true example of mixed media. The leaf is made from air dry clay and then painted with metallic gold and other colors. Also in the painting are small stones, tyvek, burlap, dimensional paint squiggles, and rusted iron paint.

Carol, First to Fall makes me say YES. YES to the depth and dimensionality, YES to the cruciform cohesion, YES to the colors, YES to the textures. Brava! What do you use for dimensional paint?

Very nice! I really enjoy the thick textures! I produce digital art, so as much as I can blend colors, I can never achieve the texture you have! Check out http://waynewwalls.blogspot.com/ to see what I mean. I also have a question. I notice you have this blog that is hosted on blogspot, and then you link out to a domain you own yourself, and I was wondering if there was a reason you have both?

Thank you, Wayne, for your kind words about my artwork.

My website has much more information at your fingertips than my blog. You would have to scroll through hundreds of random blog posts to find what you may be interested in, but on the website the info is more organized. Also the website has a newsletter feature I find very valuable, and there is a Buy Now button on every available painting. You can't buy off the blog.
