Latest newsletter from Carol Nelson Fine Art

Hello subscribers and art lovers,

After a flurry of workshops in Texas, Colorado, North Carolina,
and Lousiana, I'm able to settle down and wait for the arrival of
my new grandson - due the end of  July, but I think he's coming
early - I just have a feeling.   It's my daughter, Suzanne, and her
husband, Ian's first child, so they are feeling a little apprehensive,
as any new parents feel.

But first, I have an outdoor art festival to do this coming weekend.
The Downtown Denver Arts Festival  is this Friday, Saturday and
Sunday at their new location at the Denver Performing Arts Center,
14th and Arapahoe, in Denver.  Check the website for hours and
come see me in Booth 27.  I've got lots of new work to show you,
such as:

In June, I will be giving a demo on Thurday, June 13th, for the
Louisville Art Association in Louisville, CO.

Also in June, my work will be featured in the summer group
show at AUM Gallery.  "Batik Poppies," below, will be one of
my pieces in the show.

Recent sales have all been over the internet - not surprisingly,
since I blatently splash my work all over Pinterest, Facebook, my
blog, other people's blogs, online galleries and my website.  It's the
way marketing is done nowadays.  As an artist, you cannot be a
shrinking violet, and expect collectors to come knocking on your
door.
These paintings found new homes recently:

My really exciting news is that I've been invited to teach 3 workshops
at this year's Art of the Carolinas (AOC) in Raleigh, NC, in November.
Art of the Carolinas is a trade show/art extravaganza featuring over
100 workshops by over 40 nationally known instructors, AND
displays by art supply manufacturers selling everything from paint
to canvas, to brushes, to the kitchen sink (maybe).
The prices offered are so low that artists all over the East coast
arrive in trucks and vans just to haul away the bargains.

My even more exciting news is that Golden Artists Colors, Inc. will
supply my students at AOC with paints and mediums!  This is the
Holy Grail for any workshop instructor to be sponsored by a
manufacturer, and I have been using Golden Fluid Acrylics in my
workshops for years.  They are my paints of choice because of
their incredible luminosity and pigment load.

Upcoming workshops

In September, join me in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin at
Dillman's Resort for a 4 day workshop at this incredible
art destination.

Later in September, I'll be giving a four day workshop in Houston,
Texas for the group  at the Houston Civic Arts Association.
I haven't met any of these artists personally yet, but they sound
like a hoot.

In November, it's another workshop for the great group at the
Artists Showplace in Dallas, then on to Art of the Carolinas.

For all my upcoming events and workshops, click here to go to
my website.

One more thing:  I've had a wonderful time teaching students
in my studio for private lessons.  Here I am in my studio,
surrounded by the mess of creativity.

Don't forget the Downtown Denver Arts Festival this weekend.

Hope to see you there,

Carol
