"SURF," daily painter ocean wave © Carol Nelson Fine Art
This is a wave I caught with my camera off Polihale beach on the western coast of Kauai. This beach is the farthest to the west of any beach in the United States. A seemingly endless stretch of dunes and surf, we only saw two other people as far as we could see.
We didn't venture beyond our ankles into the water because of the signs posted about fierce currents and undertows. Still, for land-locked Coloradans, it was a thrill to just sit and watch the power of the ocean.
This 12x12 original oil painting on gallery wrap canvas is available for $200, including a black canvas floater frame and shipping in the US/Canada. Click here for purchase information.

Beautifully done, Carol...WOW..
Beautiful painting, watching the waves and the ocean are so mesmerizing, lucky you to have been there.
Gosh this is gorgeous! The swirls and spray are so great. Opened up to the large version to take it all in. Love all of the different colors of blue and that super thick paint on the crest.
I find this piece mesmerizing, Carol. I too could sit and watch the ocean for hours. Its power and beauty is ever changing but always awesomely beautiful. (I was going to add in the word 'magnificent' but realized I was going on adjective overload.) Stunning colors and textures indicating the spray and foam.
For a Coloradan, you really captured the beauty of the wave. Beautiful!
This is beautifully composed and so powerful. Nice, nice painting. I love the color!
Carol, you caught that wave perfectly. All the swirls in the water and patterns...delicious!
Love the wave. Looks like great texture!
waves are not easy but this is superbly painted.
Love the "spray"!
Hello Carol,I am new to your blog and having seen your artwork on dailypainters several times now, I wanted to say how much I love your paintings. I like this piece in particular because of the blue colors you have chosen to paint it and the piece itself shows movement, making it interesting to look at. I also like the way you made the wave as the focal point, giving the viewer the feeling that this wave is coming to pull you in. So Wonderful!
