Another poppy painting. I love the intensity of these red poppies. They are actually slightly redder (less orange) than they are in these photos. If I increased the red tone in the photo, the background was not accurate, so this is a compromise.
As you might notice, I started out with a under painting of blues and purples, then overlayed it with beige, gray and green tones. The neutral background really makes the reds pop.

Stunning, Carol! The poppy color comes through beautifully on my monitor!
Love the intensity of the red and strong contrast w/ the background.
Carol - I think this mught be one of my favorites of the poppies that I've seen you do. I LOVE the puple/blue peeking out of the beige - it is stunning with the red without overtaking the painting. Wonderful job!
Stunning! The texture is amazing and the blue background makes the poppies pop. Beautiful work, as always.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Carol, I love when you paint poppies, you do them so well. I am trying your technique using the heavy gel and molding paste. I've never done this before and I hope it turns out as nice as yours. I'm grateful to you for the learning experience.
This painting has wonderful colours and the composition is perfect. I love it!
Beautiful rich colour!
