100 PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS - David, 5/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 5
This is David looking rather tired and disheveled the morning after "a jazz quartet kept playing in my pillow." Many of you will recognize this fine artist as David Darrow, aka Dave the Painting Guy. His wit is as sharp as his skill at the easel.
I had fun with this painting keeping the palette muted to match his mood. For purchase information, please see my website.

His disheveled hair gives so much room for creating a great photo. Great portrait. Bring it on!!!!

Absolutely fabulous treatment of this photo, Carol. I thought I recognized Dave. You've handled his photo beautifully and he doesn't look tired at all, though he does look quite "deep" with thoughts roiling within.

I though the gentleman in your day 5 portrait was familiar. You've done a great job on him. I just can't imagine how you can do a portrait a day, but you're doing it. Great work.

Excellent Carol. I knew exactly who this was when I saw it on Daily Painters. Isn't he funny to post photos like this, lol.

They are all terrific Carol, but this one has my vote! What a great limited palette.

Carol!

I love, love, love, LOVE this!!!

The cool blues and purples look amazing! I could stare at this for hours!

When I did my "Depressed" self-portrait this past summer, this is the exact look I was trying to achieve with the skin tone. Unfortunately I didn't pull it off as well as you did.

Fantastic job on this one!!
