GOLDEN POPPIES 1, 9102, textured poppy floral painting © Carol Nelson Fine Art

I haven't painted any poppies lately and was having withdrawal symptoms. Usually I've painted them on a canvas ground, so this painting on MDF panel was something new. I really like the way the sculpted petals look on this smooth surface.

This is freaky... I was just looking at poppies (specifically golden ones) and thinking about painting them today. Changed my mind because it looked too difficult.

I'm beginning to suspect you're an android that never sleeps and paints 24/7. Then I thought better of it because machines cannot make uniquely beautiful things like your paintings.

A new dimension on poppies! Glad you found a way to keep them fresh - not that you were bored with them anyway.

Carol, The texture on these is wonderful! It enhances the shape of this flower! Love it!

Very dramatic. Perfect framing too.

If I could paint like that, I'm sure I would have really enjoyed appliying all those oil impastos to the board, how 'delicious' it must have been to paint this!

(I wish I knew a better word for impasto in English, if there is, please let me know :)
