Another example of my leaf series. The leaves themselves were cut out of gold embossing metal - I think it's aluminum- that I got at an art supply store. The cool thing is that the metal is gold on one side and silver on the other. The background is highly textured and the whole piece is covered with resin which gives it an "under glass" look. I'm sorry that these photos just don't show the details very well. If I give it enough light to show the background well, the shiny leaves are overexposed.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive comments. The ground for these pieces is some type of wood composite board I found at Home Depot. It is 6 inches wide and (up to) 10 feet long. It also comes wider and narrower. You can just saw off the size you want.
ReplyDeleteI painted them with 2 coats of gesso on both sides before proceeding with texturizing and building up the design.
The leaf series is gorgeous! Undoubtedly unique.. wish I could touch and feel the texture!
