And the rain rain rain
Came down down down
In rushing rising rivlets,
And the river crept out of it's bed
And crept right in to Piglets.
That's the gist of a song from Winnie-the-Pooh. I could not get that song out of my head. Colorado averages 15 inches of precipitation per year and I think most of it fell this weekend on my art festival.
The good news: my tent did not leak.
The bad news: I paid extra for a corner booth, but the wind and rain was coming from the side on which I could have expanded my display, so had to button up the side most of the time.
Good news: Crowd size was pretty good in spite of the weather.
Bad news: Few had money to spend.
Good news: The hail missed us.
Bad news: I ate almost a whole bag of Twizzlers by myself.
Anyone who did not get juried into the Downtown Denver Arts Festival should count their blessings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How disappointing! After reading yours and Harry Bell's accounts of the weekend art fairs (albeit and continent apart!), I have renewed my promise to never do another outdoor fair!
Oh Carol, I'm so sorry the weather was not your friend! Jerry and I talked about how miserable it must have been for you out there! Here's to hoping that the rest of the summer will be a success!!
Oh, one can never count on weather...
My fellow artists and I had plenty of time to tell horror stories about outdoor festivals.
One gal told of a prolonged rain storm in Florida which caused the fire ants to come up out of the ground during take-down. She was bitten hundreds of times on her feet and legs.
Another couple had parked their truck with all the art in it in the parking lot at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Truck was stolen. Police found it two weeks later burned. All art, which was not covered by ins, was destroyed. They were the same couple who made $72K at a two day show.
Ah, the highs and lows of representing yourself.
Oh Carol...I am so bummed for you! Those shows are so much work and can be expensive and then you were at the mercy of the weather...hope the Twizzlers were good anyway!
Oh, Gosh, Carol--sounds like an ordeal (except for the Twizzlers). That is such a shame.
Sorry to hear this, Carol!
I know it won't make you feel any better.....but I do love the rain!
