Colossal News from Carol Nelson Fine Art

This is my latest newsletter:

Hello subscribers and art lovers,

"Colossal News" sounds like hyperbole, but I really
DO have some exciting news to share.  First of all,
my grandson, Ryan Thomas Dawe, was born on July 6th.
He came a little early (as I predicted in my last
newsletter,) but he's been home for a couple of
weeks now, and is doing very well.

Here he is with his mom, my daughter Suzanne, and me.

Now, on a more artsy subject, I am so pleased to
announce that I have been chosen to be one of 15
artists from around the country for the
Golden Artist Colors "Art Educators Program."

             Woo Hoo!!!!!

This means that,in October,I will go to New Orleans
for a week of training.  We will learn everything
about Golden's myriad acrylic mediums and paints.
After completing the training, I will be an "expert"
in all things acrylic.

I have been using Golden paints for a long time, but
they are always developing new products, many of
which I have not even tried.  I'm sure this newly
acquired knowledge is bound to have an effect on how
and what I paint....stay tuned!

Recent Sales

Recent sales have been over the internet, at the
Downtown Denver Art Festival, and the group show I
was in atAUM Gallery.  The Downtown Denver Show,
in particular, was great because I sold a number of
large pieces.
Here's just a few that found new homes:

Upcoming Events

If you live in the Denver area, you can see my work up
close and personal at ART IN THE PARK, in Parker, CO, on
August 17 and 18.

On August 25, don't miss the AFFORDABLE ARTS FESTIVAL
at Arapahoe Community College.  ALL the art in this
show is priced at $100 or less, so you can afford
everything!  I will have some beautiful reproductions
there, as well as a selection of original works.

Currently, I'm part of a group show at Rembrandt Yard
Gallery in Boulder.  I have a number of larger pieces
at that gorgeous venue, including:

Upcoming Workshops

I will be soon getting ready for my workshop at
Dillman's Resort in Wisconsin, September 2-5.
It's going to be a small group, giving me the
opportunity to really help students with lots of one
on one individual attention. It's still not too late
to sign up.

Additional upcoming workshops in 2013:
 September 25-28  Houston, TX
 November 4-6  Dallas, TX
November 7-9  Raleigh, NC - Art of the Carolinas

Click here for more info about upcoming workshops.

My most recent painting:

"Edge of the Forest" 30 X 24.  This painting is a
study in texture.  I wish you could see it better
in the photo.

Private Instruction

I recently had two students from California, one
from Kansas, and one from Costa Rica.  You could
join me in my studio, too, if you want to fast
track to learning mixed media.
Send me an email if you're interested.

Tip of the Day

If you have an Android smart phone, you might like
the free app "Out of Milk".  It's a grocery list you
keep on your phone.  How many times have I gone
to the store and forgot something?  Not anymore.

Hope you are having a great summer.
