"GOLDEN DAYS," 10127, daily painter original landscape © Carol Nelson Fine Art

We are creeping up on my favorite time of year. Who doesn't love autumn with the warm sunshine, crisp air, and the glorious colors?

This painting is from a photo I took on a misty, cloudy day. It almost seems like the yellow aspen foliage is even brighter on cloudy days - maybe it's because there is more contrast with the darker trees.

Once again I started with a red oxide toned panel. I like letting that show here and there.

i really like the contrast between the foreground & the background - very strong! and great color on the aspens! (i'd be looking forward autumn more if we'd just had a bit more summer this year - 3 weeks is not enough!)

Carol, this is truly beautiful. Indeed you have captured that odd brilliance that happens to tree leaves on an overcast day. Isn't it gorgeous? Autumn is my favorite season and while it is still officially over a month away, I am so looking forward to it myself. The smells...the colors...the mood...just yummy!
