computer issues

Yesterday, when I got back from giving a workshop, I checked my email. I could not pull it up because it said it was endlessly "indexing messages." My solution for computer issues is to turn it off and on. (Don't do this.)

That didn't fix the email problem. Then I couldn't get on the internet at all. A couple more off/ons and suddenly my mouse stopped working. I called Comcast to reset the modum. Still no mouse, internet or email. Time to call the Computer Guy.

It turns out that the problem was the router. It was only operating at 20% speed. My husband's laptop, which I am on now, was also slow as molasses. Computer Guy fixed router, but all my off/ons had damaged my hard drive in the area of mouse brains.

Windows 7, in it's infinite wisdom, makes some files so protected that even Computer Guy could not access it even as system manager. End result is that he had to TAKE my computer to the shop. So I'm dead in the water for a couple days, but I'm still painting!!

Should have gotten a Mac.

Hmmm...I'm having big time computer issues and my computer is so old so am going to purchase a new one. They're loading it with Windows 7, since you've been using it can you give me your opinion of it?
