100 OIL PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS - Phil, 97/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 97

This is Phil who looks like he is standing outside somewhere in the West. I don't normally put a landscape in the background of the portraits, but this one just sort of crept in there. I simplified it a lot because I wanted the portrait to be about the face more than the background.
For purchase information, please see my website.

Many people have expressed to me how sad they are to see this project end. I've decided to continue doing portraits, but now, if you submit a photo, I will paint it and you will be obligated to purchase it. The price for a 6x6 portrait will be $1oo plus $10 shipping/handling.

I love the landscape background you included here, Carol. Just makes that young man's face stand out even more powerfully. Great job!

It will seem strange not seeing a post from you everyday. You've done a wonderful job with all of these portraits.

You're right Carol...the landscape MUST have just crept in there! BUT, it did not take away from that face. Nicely done...glad you are gonna still work with portraiture...you are too good at it to NOT...:)

Carol, I just rcvd Phil's portrait - I am so delighted to have it! I had him look at the portraits online and when he saw himself, he smiled...then I showed him the original....he said "coooool"! This pic was last summer...his band went on a road trip to Utah then elsewhere, so you're right, it was in the southwest (the van broke down!) A great experience for a van load of 20 yr olds. Thanks so much! Melody

Carol - you're right - Phil was in the southwest on a road trip with his band during college break. Today I showed him your portraits gallery & he spotted himself...then I showed him the original I just rcvd and he said "coooool!" I love it. Thank you so much! Melody
