100 OIL PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS - Ethel, 81/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 81

This is 94 year old Ethel, but her family knows her as Momma. I absolutely loved painting this photo. The lighting, her hat, her purple parka with a zipper, and that sweet little smile - it all made for a great portrait.
For purchase information, please see my website.

Note: I just learned that this sweet lady passed away and her funeral was 3 days ago. I hope this painting will be a comfort to Momma's family.

I am so sorry to hear that Ethel has passed away. She looks so very beautiful. I find myself thinking that she must have been exquisitely gorgeous as a young woman. I think this has moved into my number one favorite spot of them all, Carol. I think this one touched your heart and somehow it shows. Gorgeous.

I LOVE Momma's portrait, it is outstanding throughout the entire painting. Your handling of all of the different textures is spot on, love the handling of the soft wispy hair, the sassy hat, and the lighting is beautiful. What a wonderful tribute for a precious little Momma.

Carol!

I'm sorry to hear Ethel has passed.

I know this might sound strange but this particular portrait looks very much like a highly rendered animation cell!

Neat!
