100 OIL PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS -Stephen, 50/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 50

This little guy is Stephen. I was attracted to the great light on his face under that big hat. This photo is a good ear study too. I used to just put some squiggles in for the ear, but now I see the actual anatomy of the ear. Everybody has pretty much the same basic pattern to their ear and now I paint them accurately.
For purchase information, please see my website, or email me at carolnelsonfineart@comcast.net.

I'm at the half way point!! This project has turned out to be more work than I anticipated, but it is very rewarding. Many of you tell me how you start your day looking at my blog to see the new face of the day. I start my day by reading your wonderful comments and observations. Your encouragement keeps me going!!!

And, once again, it's time to VOTE for your favorite of portraits 41-50 (Zetana - Stephen). Half of the choices in this group are 12 years old or less. Please email me your vote by Sunday night.

Congrats on the first 50! You rock! (and btw: I'm standing at the kitchen counter drinking my morning coffee and getting late for work... that's the way to start a day!)

These are getting better and better with each passing day...therefor it's getting harder and harder to pick a "best" out of the last 10. But Stephen is a favorite this time!

They are all so wonderful...but with this group I have to pick
Ellie, no. 48...just something about that sweet face. Amazing the likeness you pull from all the fotos...what a great project! I am really enjoying it.

I have a three-way tie going between 42,48,50. Such a hard decision!

I find this little cowboy so endearing. He has that thoroughly engrossed look that boys his age get.

Ok...since I have to pick I'm going with 48. That little girl is so beautifully fragile. She breaks my heart. So 48 it is.

delightful - you've caught his contemplative mood perfectly (tho being a little boy, he's prob contemplating a bug or a frog!) and congrats on making it half-way - what a great project!

Your half way there! Congratulation and thank you! Everyday I can't wait to see your new post and so far I don't think I can choose a favorite...they're all winners. Keep up this wonderful challenge, I'm looking forward to the next 50!

Halfway done! Go Carol!

This portrait is much softer and delicate compared with previous portraits where the colors are "loud".

Charming and quiet are the words that come to mind!
