100 OIL PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS - Michelle, 43/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 43

This is Michelle. There is such a sun drenched look to her photo. She could have just stepped off a California beach. I don't know where she lives, but she would fit right in, in sunny southern CA.

I have figured out the easiest way to paint hair with shadows on the skin. First paint the skin, then paint the shadows, lastly, paint the hair. It's all layered one on top of the other.

For purchase information, please see my website, or email carolnelsonfineart@comcast.net.

If you are NOT Michelle, and you wish to purchase this painting, please email me. It has happened twice now where someone has purchased a painting from the website, before the person whose photo it is, has logged on to their computer the day of the posting. I will give preference to the person whose portrait it is before selling it to anyone else. I think that's only fair because we all don't live in the same time zone.

The winner is: AUNTIE TRUDE!!! Thank you all for your votes. There was a 3 way tie for second.
Really close voting this time. Auntie Trude will be happy to hear she's still got "IT" at 93!

Carol - this is another stunning portrait. Michelle is looking great! And I love the hair - I always struggle with blond hair...
AND... I received my portrait this week. It's so much more vibrant and alive in real than on screen! I wish I could see all 100 portraits together (in real) at an exhibition. Would be stunning.
You're still going strong and I'm still looking forward to the daily treat in the morning!

Beautiful!! It is funny how you've mentioned the order of your painting here...I keep reminding myself that to do it in the order it appears is the best way to get good results.

Michelle is such a beauty and you have painting a very worthy painting! The glowing, sun-kissed skin tones are incredible and the shadows from her hair really make this piece one of my faves. Thanks for sharing your thinking about what goes first. It really worked!

You captured Michelle's beauty and quiet wisdom wonderfully! You are right about Michelle. She would fit right in as a So. Cal Gal!
