100 PORTRAITS IN 100 DAYS - Regula, 21/100, © Carol Nelson Fine Art

Day 21

I hope the lovely Regula always wondered what she would look like with blue hair because now she knows! She's from Switzerland and maybe she'll start a new fad. This is another painting starting on a black background, so the black areas, like along the right side of her face, are the actual underpainting.
For purchase information, please see my website.

Tomorrow's post will have several photos showing my photo transfer method and a painting in progress.

IT'S TIME TO VOTE AGAIN. Please review portraits 11 - 21 on my blog and shoot me an email for your favorite from that group. carolnelsonfineart@comcast.net

Carol, both Jack and Regula are wonderful portraits. For some reason, I am no longer getting lost in your wonderful technique and your artist's eye, but now find myself wondering about the people themselves. I think that is rather cool in itself.

Carol - I love it! That's such a great portrait, wonderful colors, I'm off to get my hair dyed blue... ;-)
I expected to have the reddish tones in my hair exaggerated, but the blue works beautifully. And I agree with Angela Elledge: the eyes are super!
(hmmm... I'm always very critical of any photo taken of me, but I really love this painting. You must have done something right!)

This was one of my favorite reference photos from Karin's challenge. Such a beautiful woman. Love the way you bumped up the warm tones of her skin and added that radical blue hair. Just Perfect! Love it! Lots of energy in this one.
