SONG OF THE POPPIES, 9118, mixed media floral painting by Carol Nelson © Carol Nelson Fine Art

I had to really work and rework portions of this painting because of the multiple areas competing for attention. The poppies are the center of interest, but the grid pattern on the right was so bold, it drew the eye away from the poppies. I had to tone it down several times. The areas embedded with bits of sheet music have a transparent layer of gold metallic paint on them for emphasis and pizazz.

This 24x36 inch painting comes with a black floater frame. Please see my website for purchase information.

DON'T FORGET TO CHECK MY BLOG ON MONDAY, 12-21, FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF A BIG PROJECT IN WHICH EVERYONE CAN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE.

Oh Carol...this is outstanding! Thank you for the close up. The music didn't show in the smaller shot and it is such a wonderful touch. Great job!

There is so much interest in this painting, I think that one would never get bored looking at it. You always come up with new and exciting textures and surfaces and your color combinations are perfect. Love your work.

Just beautiful Carol. I'd like to sit with you and paint for about a month! I'm sure I'd learn a few things about creative thinking!!

Carol, this is truly stunning. I love the addition of the musical notes and the colors are phenomenal!

This has turned out beautifully and by toning the grid down it doesn't draw your eye away from the main focus, but instead adds to it. Brilliant work Carol!

This one is exquisite! The best of the poppy series so far IMHO. Well done my friend!

Carol!

Another lovely poppy painting!

If you do another one (I know you will too!) I'd like to see maybe a blue background next time just for contrast. Something to change it up from the previous two.

Just a suggestion!
