Summer Harvest, 9053, original still life of summer vegetables

This is the latest challenge for Karin Jurick's Different Strokes from Different Folks blog. The subject this time is this colorful plate of summer vegetables. I tried to emphasize the light/shadow and keep a painterly approach. For purchase information, please see my website.

I like the way you cropped it but my favorite part is the purple shadows. It really unifies everything and makes the painting sing.

Hi Carol!
I like it very much, and I have to concur with the previous posts about how great the purple shadows look (and the whole colors chosen). It gives vitality to the painting.

Your crop is outstanding. I struggled with that for a few days and decided to go with the whole plate and add something instead. The brushwork (very painterly) and the colors (purple) are fantastic.

Carol;

HOW in the world do you do an oil painting in one sitting?! I always have to wait for the layers to dry... and I'm impatient! :/ I LOVE this painting- I'm a chef as well as an artist- and it hits me both places! Great work!
