Southwest Spirit, 9039 desert landscape abstract

I didn't start out with a southwest landscape in mind, but that's what I ended up with. Another of the allures of doing abstract work - as Forrest Gump said - abstracts are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get. This 24x30 abstract on canvas can be purchased through my website by clicking here.

I really love this! The strong brush strokes and warm palette make it so powerful. I'm in awe of Artists like you who can evoke such strong emotion with abstract shapes. It FEELS Southwestern. How do you do that?

I love this one too, Carol!

Your past abstracts seemed to be mainly in blues, greens, and neutral tones.

Now your most recent abstract are predominately warm tones. What a nice change!

The color scheme here is definitely "southwest" in feeling.

The thing I think is most unique about this one is the composition. It's top-heavy in that the bulk of the design is near the top of the painting, with the lower portion just a basic background neutral. But that is what I love about it. It just works here.

Great job!

Thanks, Dean, for your thoughtful comments. My USUAL palette is the warm tones. I was doing a lot of cool tone work for a show called "Blue."
